Zoom!

Canberra’s finest and only poetry event is returning to the Phoenix next month on the 16th with special guest stars Amelia Filmer-Sankey and El Lukio.

That’s right! I said Amelia Filmer-Sankey and El Lukio!

Can you even comprehend?

Lord of co-op related events and black-belted word ninja, Amelia Filmer-Sankey will be getting all up in your word grill with her poetry fists. You can read how pretty her brain is here.

Backing her up with have the most punk rock wrestler chef in the history of YouTube! El Lukio (of One Pot Punk Rock fame) will be in attendance to throw some live cooking show stuff at your head.

Check out how he eats a watermelon.

Brilliant.

There will also be a poetry slam at this poetry slam, one with more first prizes than any other poetry slam even in the world.

THE WORLD!

It appears that the feature act is wearing a luche libre mask. If a regular performer has a luche libre mask, may they also wear it?

ALWAYS YES.

‘water mellon’? Someone deserves to be Corrected.

And they just were.

Capitalising “Corrected” and starting a sentence with “And” make a fine dressing for a post that is telling someone off for making a typo.

There is nothing intrinsically wrong with starting a sentence with “and”.

Bulls###. You should always start a sentence with capitalisation.

And this is how it is done.

Don’t worry, I won’t bother to make any corrections of your writing in future.

You can try to score cheap shots at someone else’s expense, when they have merely tried to be helpful.

Now come on. With the amount of flawless sport you regularly make of me and my fumbling language, how could I not attempt to take full advantage of the one opening you’ve left me to make a riposte.

Man I just did some reading at it seems you’re right!

Yet another wonderful incorrect lesson I learned at school.

Here’s my 2nd-favourite incorrect correction I hate seeing:

“I have 5CD’s”.

Irony is not a fault, but it is a solid defensive position to retreat to.

My watermelon fumble was a joke at El Lukio’s broken accent.*

*No it was not.

Play and irony are not faults.

Ironic capitalisation was to be more gentle.

Slices seemed appropriate.

Learn to read for implication and intent.
