Is there anything more beautiful than a vibrant, perfectly arranged bunch of fresh flowers?

Whether you are wishing someone a happy birthday or anniversary, congratulating them on a new baby, or simply letting them know that you are thinking about them, flowers are an incredibly touching gift. What’s more, flowers bring event venues to life, whether that be for a wedding, party, or business launch.

Use a talented florist in Canberra to purchase the ultimate bouquet for a friend, loved-one, or family member – or even a bunch of flowers for your home.

In this article, we’ll outline the qualities to consider when choosing a florist, and share where to find the best in Canberra.

Let’s get started right away.

What makes a great florist?

Not sure exactly what you are looking for when comparing Canberra florists?

It can be helpful to keep the following in mind when choosing a florist.

  • A delightful range of fresh flowers. All flowers are beautiful, especially when they are fresh and full of life. The best florists offer a delightful collection of flowers and foliage.
  • Expert arranging skills. Flower arranging is an art form. The best in the business are detail-oriented and have an eye for design.
  • Experience with events. If you need flowers for an upcoming event, such as a wedding, birthday party, baby shower, or funeral, it’s best to work with a florist that has extensive experience.
  • Reliable delivery. A fresh bunch of flowers delivered directly to someone’s home or workplace makes a lovely gift. You want to be sure the arrangement you order shows up on the scheduled date.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a florists 'style'?

Different florists have different styles and techniques and it's important to explore what these are. Some are more traditional in approach, others ultra modern, and some even prefer working with Australian native plants and flowers. You'll want to select a florist that can work with what you're ultimately looking for.

How does a florist work with their client?

It's ideal to pick a florist who will work closely with you to ensure your vision blossoms. Asking about their approach will help you understand how to connect with them. An initial planning session is often helpful, for example, and you'll want to make sure your phone calls or emails are answered promptly.

How is a florist's experience relevant?

You'll not only want to know how long your florist has been in business, you'll also want to tease out their experience in what it is you're looking for. In the case of a wedding, for example, it's wise to explore how many weddings the florist has worked on and what size and styles of weddings.

Can you ask for a florists' portfolio before engaging their services?

Yes - a picture paints a thousand words. Looking at examples of a florist's work is essential to building your confidence and comfort in whether they're the one for you. Good florists have photos of their arrangements on their website and on social media. If not, they should be willing to make other arrangements for you to look at previous examples of their work. Also don't be shy about asking for references.

What other services do florists offer?

Many florists offer more than just floral arrangements and it can be helpful for big events, such as a special celebration, to know what their full suite of services are. Some can help with certain event services, for example. Also, they may offer other products like gift baskets, dried flower arrangements and hampers, which could be of interest.

Bewitched Flowers and Gifts in Kambah are amazing!!!! They are my local that I always go to when I need flowers for any occasion. They deliver same day and are always willing to give great advice on what flowers I need and what budget I am on. They also have a STUNNING range of giftware available in store and online.

For vibrant creativity from friendly knowledgeable staff Miss Moss is the place to go! I just love their unique & colourful arrangements and have never been let down after arranging several deliveries this year. Great to have this fabulous business in Weston Creek?

Trevor Burns10:19 am 21 May 20

You obviously have not been to Miss Moss Florals in Weston. Should be at the top of your list!

Thank you for recommending West Row Botanica featured in your Best Florists in Canberra article. I live interstate and rang them to organise a bouquet. They did a wonderful job and did not disappoint. David was polite, reassuring and willing to help. Amazing flower arrangement! Thanks again for guiding me in the right direction.

This experience relates to Embassy Florist. I’m aware that they’re well regarded in general and indeed that’s why I chose to order flowers from them for my wife’s “round” (multiple of 10) birthday. However, I have to say I was quite disappointed with their service and also with their attitude when questioned about it. I actually placed my order online the night before, and it wasn’t a trivial bunch ($150 including delivery). I assumed without even thinking about it that the flowers would be delivered next morning. When they hadn’t been delivered by lunch time I called the shop and was told they’d be delivered some time that afternoon before 5 PM!!! What they also told me is that their courier does just one delivery round, that the courier decides on the delivery schedule (doesn’t want to be told what gets delivered when), and that if you want them delivered in the morning you have to pay some extra amount. Really? You order the night before and you can’t even expect a morning delivery?! They were eventually delivered around 3 PM, about 5 or 6 hours after I would have expected and way after the time that they would have given the pleasure I’d intended. (Someone else also ordered flowers for her from another florist, which were delivered at 8 AM!) Frankly this is pathetic, especially given the size of my order, and I will certainly never deal with this florist again.

For wedding florists the best is https://www.peonynpearl.com.au/ they did an incredible job of my wedding flowers.

On a side note, theword, have you requested congratulatory messages for your mother’s anniversary? For a 50th wedding anniversary, you can get a message from the Prime Minister and Governor-General at a minimum (maybe a few more depending on which State/Territory your parents live in).

This is a free service.

Florever in Dickson is highly recommended. They did my wedding. The price is reasonable, the arrangements are beautiful and the staff are friendly.

Can not speak highly enough of the Poetry in Flowers in Gunghalin near the cole. They were absolutely lovey.
I had several reccommendations for them for my wedding and way cheap ($650 for 1 bride, 4 brides maids, 3 flower girls and 5 buttonholes)

Manuka Flowers. Very good quality stock and capable florists.

Woolworths usually clear their flowers out a couple of times each week. You will save yourself a bundle if you get the timing right.

I used Capital Flowers recently – http://www.capitalflowersact.com.au/ – and found them to be very reasonably priced and flexible. they have set arrangements on line, but you can also phone them and indicate what style you like but change the colours etc to suit, or pick a designers choice and give them some general guidance.

Florever in Dickson helped me with custom made arrangements about two years back. Reasonably priced as well
