This sounds pretty cool. An awesome looking gig/zine launch/panel/ep launch? That’s just so crazy it might work. I’m in.
Jeremy Staples, the editor and creator of the final and free retrospective book of Bizoo titled ‘The Best, the Worst & the Trash that never made it’ is excited to be launching the massive book in Canberra on Friday 24 May at The Front.
‘Bizoo represents three collaborative years of retracing the life and times of venues, bands, punks, anarchists and emerging writers across Australia, and showcases the final works collected through a zine about music festivals, art shows and the shit-fights that followed.’ said Mr Staples.
Fittingly, the Bizoo-Ka! farewell party will host a line-up of bands from 9pm featuring musicians and speakers torn from the pages of Bizoo itself with Fighting League, the infamous Canberra punk band, Bad Pharmer, a fusion of 90s rock, Dead DJ Joke a zine maker and culture clash noise maker. Bad Pharmer are launching their EP ‘Where the Wild Bison Roam’ on the night, with Scissors Paper Pen, a Canberra arts collective hosting two of Canberra’s finest spoken word poets.
‘Bizoo-ka is not just another book launch. It’s a statement of how far you can push the envelope in all forms of creativity and action. Bizoo was a platform for bands, writers, comedian, artists and jerks, and we printed every word and image we ever received from amateur and professional writers and designers around the country.’ Mr Staples said.
Not sure who the spoken word poets are, but Canberra is swapped with talent in that field so I have no doubt they’ll be great.
