Traditionalists may see it as your last night of ‘freedom.’ Others see it as an excuse to get together with your mates and indulge in a little fun. Wherever you stand, if you or a close friend is set to get married in the near future, a bucks’ party is most certainly in order.

If it’s not really your thing, your bucks’ party doesn’t have to be a messy all-nighter that leaves you with a thumping headache come wedding day. We asked Canberra locals to share their favourite bucks’ party ideas, and the results are in.

In this article, you’ll find three very different bucks’ party venues and activities. So, let’s jump right into it.

What makes an excellent bucks’ party?

The answer to this question really depends on the type of person you are, your interests, and your expectations. But, to help you decide, consider the following:

  • Make it memorable. You’ll probably only get married once – which means just one opportunity to host a bucks’ party. So, make it memorable. What can you and your friends do that you’ve never done before? How can you make the most of it?
  • Involve everyone. Everyone’s friends and family look different. If you can (and want to) look for an activity that involves everyone – whether that be your 16-year-old nephew or 60-year-old uncle.
  • Think about numbers. Are you looking to invite three or thirty people to your bucks’ party? Numbers will have a significant impact on the type of activity you decide on.
  • Consider the cost. When it comes to paying for a wedding, every dollar counts. Set a budget for your bucks’ party and stick to it.

Then grab a pub meal
perhaps at the The Durham Castle Arms Kingston http://www.thedurhampub.com.au/
or cook own steaks at the Kingston pub https://kingstonhotel.com.au/
or the Kingston foreshore has lots of bars etc
or public bar in manuka http://www.publicbar.com.au seems popular these days also…

After that
Reload Bar and games is a gaming bar in civic in the evening. Lots of fun… http://reloadbar.com.au

And take it from there for night life….

My brother organised a game of pub golf for my other brothers bucks night in Syd http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pub_Golf

Booking a Club Deluxe King suite at the Hyatt $480,
Booking two gorgeous strippers from Melbourne $1000,
The look on the Indian waiters face when you order ice to your room and he delivers it in the middle of the strippers XXX rated lesbian show, priceless.

Thanks all for the advice, so far pretty helpful a snow trip sounds promising.

@imarty – I agree, should be the best man but he has been slack and it’s coming around quick.

@conanofcomma – Do you mean the ‘best man’ to actually do his job? I agree with you.

@gantz – haha, great idea

So, you’ve looked at going to Sydney, but you haven’t explored the other basic options available in the region?

The season is on, why not get a chalet?
House boats on the Clyde are always a winner.
Boyds on Twofold – classic accommodation by the beach, great for partying.
Getting your slack arse groom to actually do his job.
