Police seek witnesses to armed robbery in Torrens

Did you see a man threaten a woman with secateurs in Torrens on Friday? Police want to speak with you.

An ACT Policing spokesperson said they are seeking witnesses to an armed robbery that occurred in Torrens on 10 May.

“About 4:15 pm on Friday, 10 May 2024 police received a report that a woman had been walking home when a white hatchback vehicle pulled up alongside,” the spokesperson said.

“A man exited the vehicle with a pair of secateurs (pruning scissors) and demanded the woman’s handbag. When she refused, the man grabbed the bag and a small struggle ensued.

“The man eventually made off with the woman’s belongings and she received minor injuries to her hand.”

The man was described as Caucasian in appearance with a solid build and shaved head. He was wearing a black puffer jacket, black pants and white sneakers.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Please quote 7745453. Information can be provided anonymously.
