Thoroughbred Park, home of the Canberra Racing Club and thoroughbred horse racing in the Capital conducts 25 meetings a year, including the TAB Melbourne Cup Day in November and the John McGrath Auto Group Black Opal Stakes Day in March.

Located just 15 minutes from the heart of the City and along the light rail, Thoroughbred Park races on the Course Proper in the warmer months and the Acton synthetic track throughout winter.

There’s plenty of excitement on and off the track on race day. Enjoy the famous carvery luncheon in the Black Opal Room, relax in the comfort of the Winning Post Bar, or take your position at one of the many picnic tables located trackside. Fashions on the field competitions are held on two major race days and is one of the best competitions in the region.

Their functions department are more than happy to help with providing the ultimate experience on race day, a conference package for a special event or a wedding reception in one of our flexible and versatile function spaces. Their Christmas party race days are ideal for small to large groups and our outdoor spaces can cater for groups up to 1000.
