s-s-a has sent in the above with the following question:
At first I thought a crane had broken down in the new construction zone at
the corner of Cotter Rd and Streeton Drive. But since it’s been there for several days (or longer?) with the same load hanging in mid-air, I am now wondering whether Jon Stanhope has commissioned a new installation on the sly for the benefit of motorists entering Weston Creek from the north??It needs fairy lights at night tho.
It was to distract everyone coming over the hill while they bulldozed the land for the Molonglo land release 😉
drove past this afternoon and no load hanging in the air anymore…is the plot starting to thicken ? or maybe the northern suburb’s riff raff has decided to acquire it 😉
If it collapsed and killed a random walker I’d have to agree they should have known better to stand under it. It still surprised me it was left like that.

Hmmm it’s visible for miles and it’s pretty obvious what it is. It wouldn’t take a giant IQ to figure out that walking or parking underneath the suspended load would perhaps be just a little silly, even though the chances of mechanical failure are slight. Then again we are dealing with people who choose to live south of the lake so perhaps you’re right, a security detail and a plethora of signs and fences would be in order…
to be fair, conan, it was telecom’s syringe, now simply rebadged… 😉
It’s better than the Telstra Syringe.

Slight? It’s a massive improvement on that debacle.
I saw this and wondered if it was broken, or if it was left that way to stop anyone knocking off that ever is on the load. Then I wondered about the legality of leaving it like that, no spotters, drivers, safety fences… On the weekend there were cars parked pretty much under it…
It’s a slight improvement on the dropped metal posts on the Barton Hwy!
