For the past few weeks I have noticed posters stuck on the red bridge at Belconnen Mall for some music awards being held at UC. Every time I passed them I thought, I really should remember about that, it sounds interesting.
Yesterday I was reminded of this as I found on my lecture hall seat at flyer for the very same event. I googled them and discovered this was the ‘Canberra and District’ music awards and they have been collecting people’s choice votes for some time (race down to Landspeed Records, the Space Sound Underground or any of the Music Shops on Wednesday morning and you may still be able to vote) and the results will be announced at a gala ceremony at the UC bar on Wednesday night.
There are also some kind of industry choice prizes that have been decided by “organisations or individuals that have a leading role in the local Canberra music scene”.
So if you want to go along and see some great local bands play and learn about who people think are the best, head along to the UCU Bar at 7pm on 26-APR-06 and pay your $5 to get in. The band performing on the night include Using three words, Little Smoke, Switch 3, Dahahoo and the elusive Los Capitanes.
