Short and sweet

Now in its 22nd year and having enjoyed its sneak preview on Sunday night at Smith’s Alternative in the city, the Canberra Short Film Festival gets into full swing tonight at Dendy Cinemas. With the Documentary Screening component of the festival tonight, the official Opening Night takes place tomorrow at Dendy also.

The festival otherwise continues each night this week across various venues around Canberra:

Tuesday September 12: Documentary screening @ Dendy cinemas, 6:30 pm
Six documentary shorts from Australia and abroad. Event information & tickets:

Wednesday September 13: Opening Night @ Dendy cinemas, 6:30 pm
Cross-sectional collection of festival short films comprised of indigenous inclusions, music videos, international productions, animations, U/18 pieces and some of the best local offerings. Event information & tickets:

Thursday September 14: Belconnen Community Centre, 6:30 pm
Café & bar open from 6:00pm, screening from 6:30pm. Event and program information: Bookings: 02 6264 0200 or tickets on the door

Friday September 15: Tuggeranong Arts Centre, 6:30 pm
Showcase of films from each of the nine categories + a screening of a series of short films created during TAC film-making workshops, AND a Q&A session with up-and-comer Vanessa Gazy*. Event information:

Saturday September 16: Smith’s Alternative, screening from 7:00pm (doors at 6:30 pm)
Showcase of short films from across the festival followed by a special after-party performance by The Wumpaz. Event information & tickets:

Sunday September 17: Closing Night @ Dendy cinemas, 6:30 pm
The final round-up of festival short films including indigenous productions, international productions, music videos, animations, U/18 pieces and some of the best local offerings, followed by Festival Awards. Event information & tickets:
