Member for Canberra Gai Brodtman and Minister for Transport Anthony Albanese have announced money for local road black spots:
Federal Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Anthony Albanese and Member for Canberra Gai Brodtmann today announced the Rudd Labor Government will provide $596,500 to fix six dangerous black spots on local roads.
The six black spots and the proposed treatments are:
— Melrose Drive and Corinna Street at Phillip: $230,000 to implement minor intersection improvements, install safer light columns and reduce the speed limit on Melrose Drive from 70kph to 60kph;
— Carruthers Street and Yarra Glen off-ramps (west) at Curtin: $180,000 to improve the operation of traffic signals and upgrade barriers;
— Yamba Drive and Julia Flynn Crescent (north) at Isaacs: $95,000 to improve channelisation in the median and install new kerbing;
— Jerrabomberra Avenue, Captain Cook Crescent and Sturt Avenue at Narrabundah: $45,000 to reduce Jerrabomberra Avenue (northbound) to one lane;
— Drakeford Drive and Barr-Smith Avenue at Bonython: $26,000 to improve minor deficiencies such as signage, linemarking and vegetation clearance; and
— Drakeford Drive and Noorooma Street at Isabella Plains: $20,500 to improve minor deficiencies such as signage, linemarking and vegetation clearance.
