The very snappy www.canberra100.com.au website for the centennial of Canberra got a gala launch today. The logo is meant to remind us of Capital Hill and I’ve certainly seen worse.

The Chief Minister has put out a media release to sell us on the vision splendid.

Amongst many things we’re being promised a cricket Test.

UPDATED: The Canberra Times is now reporting on the hoopla, as is the the ABC.

On the subject of the logo, (and at the risk of sounding like a sore loser) I’m pretty disappointed with the winning entry. A circle of dots and a modified version of the font used by Holden does not a unique logo make.
Yes I entered the competition and thought my concept was fairly strong (apparently one of my designs was shortlisted to the top 8) but I certainly think that their should have been some degree of public scrutiny of the top 5 ideas at least, purely in the interest of subjectivity.
