Car Wash Day! We want your pictures

By johnboy - 14 November 2008 24

For the first time in many a year tomorrow it will be legal to wash your car.

So if you are giving your pride a joy a loving sponging why not get a photo of it and send it in to us? ( images@the-riotact.com )

While bikinis are welcome it’d be nice to get some prime Riot beefcake in for Sepi too. And everything in between of course.

Agree with you Holden. I wash my car once a week on the lawn, and use significantly less water than on the rare occasions I go to Carlovers. I also end up with less scratches on the car from dirty brushes, don’t have to deal with people being impatient for me taking too long and the finish lasts longer. That way I can use the exhorbitantly (sp?) expensive car washing stuff I buy from time to time that keeps it clean and sparkly, and the lawn gets a drink too 🙂

And before anyone decides to flame me for flouting water restrictions, I use tank water for everything – no access to mains water.

I have a commodore. There is not a commercial car wash designed that can kill it.

Seems a bit odd that we have nice friendly electric signs beside major roads telling us that the dams are at 50% capacity and we are frequently over usage targets, but we get to wash our cars. How about we water a few ovals and public green spaces first.

If we’re allowed to water our gardens, I can’t see why we’re not afforded the opportunity to wash our car form time to time. Moreover, I reckon I could wash my car at home using less water than I am forced to use at a commercial car wash. That aside, I just want the opportunity to wash my car with my own gear, instead of gambling with car’s paintwork with the equipment and detergents used at commerical car washes.

hey we could have community car washing on local ovals – scouts fundraising?

Thumper 12:35 pm 14 Nov 08

Seriously though, I’ll just take my car down to the car wash and pay eight bucks. Quick and easy 😉

I think I’ll need a pick and shovel to get through the layers of baked on clay and dirt currently adorning the Rover.

Magnet Mart are selling low-end Karchers for $99 – looking forward to using my new one to blast the house clean.
But the relaxed restrictions are not a factor – tank water means I can do it any ol’ time… 🙂

Al, I was going to suggest running a hose and pump from Yerrabi Ponds, but then I suppose that defeats the purpose if you want clean water! 🙂

Looks like the weather is going to be kind as well, with a return to the low-mid twenties forecast.

I’ll be washing away, can’t wait, my car hasn’t been washed for about 3 weeks. It is filthy. 😉

housebound 11:16 am 14 Nov 08

Why wait? We just let the rain do the work for us.

Thumper 11:15 am 14 Nov 08
