Collision and fire blocks Monaro Highway

A two-car accident on the Monaro Highway and a factory fire at Hume is causing major traffic delays for motorists on their way home this afternoon.

Just before 4:30 pm, two cars collided on the southbound lane of Monaro Highway near the Alexander Maconochie Centre.

Traffic is backed up to the Hindmarsh Drive overpass.

Emergency services are on scene and police have asked motorists to avoid the area.

Meanwhile, ACT Fire and Rescue is putting out a fire at a factory in Hume.

The fire is in Arnott Street, Hume and started just after 4:10 pm.
