The ACT Rural Fire Service will assist a rural landholder tomorrow, Sunday 30 June, 2013, weather permitting conduct a prescribed burn at a rural property on the Cotter Road.

The burn will commence at 10:30am and finish at 3:00pm.

Two heavy tankers and 10 personnel will conduct the burn of 48 hectares of grassland.

The ACT Handy Map grid reference is I12.

Temporary smoke cover may occur. Every effort is made to conduct the burn in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.

The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.

At least they’re warning this time, they decided to do a burn on both sides of the Cotter Road last Sunday too, when they should have known there was going to be a lot of traffic. Instead they just went ahead with it and put up tiny warning signs saying hazardous driving conditions ahead.
