CPR saved Orford's bacon?

The Australian has uncovered a strange part of the Raiders’ organisation, the “core player representatives”, or CPR.

Apparently they decided to keep Matt Orford in the side despite the half having so far only demonstrated skills in being fat and dropping the ball.

Prop David Shillington confirmed he was one of the players Furner had spoken to about Orford.

“Furnsy often consults with the players — especially the CPR group which is the core player representatives — and sometimes about team selections,” Shillington said. “I was asked about it and like most of the other players I think we should stick with him for longer.

No respect for the game? That’s the last thing a Broncos supporter should be talking about.

Why bother complaining about Orford. We all know what the problem is, they’re all a pack of dog hugging misfits with no real respect for the game or for their position in a prof. sporting code. As long as they look pretty and get their party drugs they wont give a rats. I know you’ve all seen them strutting around thinking they’re gangsters with their tattoos and trendy shirts. Thinking you’re cool wont win a premiership. Get used to it people, it will happen for years with this group.

The CPR group? Yes I think the Raiders (and Brumbies) need CPR at the moment.

Because a coach must garner respect and authority over his team and by arbitrarily dismissing key players without consultation or discussion can cause unrest, a loss of morale and later down the track dismissal.

The coach can’t be everywhere and he can’t see everything as much as they’d like to pretend so often an intelligent bunch of senior player representatives can be a good asset to a coach.

Maybe if the generals in France had listened to some of their troops a few million men wouldn’t have died.

And it was a couple of basic errors at a terrible time but ffs it was only a point! No team this year has truly stepped up and dominated the competition yet so I think calling for axings 4 matches in is a bit rich. Confidence built is glory won.

This sounds so familiar to another Canberra team whose playmaker is not performing.

Anyway, why are clubs now listening to the overpaid Core Player Representatives or Senior Players Group instead of the bloody coach?

Ah, democracy at work. I hope that the Greens and Indies are appropriately represented 🙂
