Dam that Mulligans Flat

Wondering what the situation is with the Mulligans Flat dam earthworks in the Mulligans Flat Sanctuary. I would have thought works in the Sanctuary would have needed some form of consultation or approval, and yet looking at the ACTPLA website there is nothing. Seems that they are making a bit of a meal of it too, because the entire downstream site was flooded with muddy water when we checked last week. After doing a bit of googling it seems the dam was scheduled to be repaired some time ago, but never really happened.

Funny that ACTPLA seems to favour some development, for example the dam upgrade, with no consultation and no monitoring of construction, and yet for other developments every plan, consultation and deliberative forum under the sun is required, and even then they are reluctant to make a decision.

Perhaps sections of the HSU Eastern division slipped inside ACTPLA?

give the job to some favoured contractor then claim the details are “commercial in confidence,” – or how the government can avoid public scrutiny just like everyone else. You could file a FOI and wait by which time it would be all over. Another example of transparency in government or more of the same from the people who promised you no waste by 2010?

Actually, knowing the government, give the job to the cheapest quote and then figure out several months later, when the contractor is actually doing the job, whether they can do it competently for the amount they are being paid.

I know nothing of the specifics of this case, but if they are repairing a dam, then there wouldn’t be an development planning…
