Taylor Pitsilos and mother Sharyn are the dynamic duo behind Designer Op Shop Emporium, having launched their new Fyshwick store over the weekend. Walking through the doors you’re immediately taken aback by the abundance of vintage homewares and clothing on offer.
The business venture of selling carefully curated vintage fashion and homewares began seven years ago when they started collecting things.
“It started online through my Dad’s online company. It didn’t exactly go to plan so we started selling at the markets instead. Then we found a cheap place to rent in Braddon and seized the opportunity and have never looked back,” explained Taylor.
The new store is an exciting new chapter in their retail journey.
“Designer Op Shop has really evolved over the years. It has moved stores four times now and with each, move we’ve grown,” said Taylor.
The new store is a spacious setting with a warehouse feel. With so many well thought out displays, you will find yourself getting lost in the intricacies of the store’s unique items.
“The new space in Fyshwick is a big move and a step up – we’ve put so much effort and love into the shop! We’ve done a whole new rebrand and are bringing on a whole new team! We also offer a new side brand – Designer Op Shop Luxe as well as also providing menswear which is super exciting!” said Taylor.
The store has not only expanded in size but it now offers new lines, including handmade ceramics, cushions, jewellery and vintage menswear.
“We feel that there is something for everyone here. It’s also a collaborative space featuring other small businesses stalls selling a variety of items aligned with our original concept store.”
With an in-house café due to open soon, and a variety of homewares and fashion, this store is fast-tracked to become a destination hub.
