Diamonds in the dust

“Diamonds” is usually suspended between the High Court and the National Gallery where it brings a lot of joy to all who see it floating in the sky.

But with the massive expansion of the Gallery nearing completion visitors get a closer view as it rests behind blue screens next to the front door.

It’s a lot bigger on the ground.

tend to agree with ts – again! this is getting almost ahabit, sheesh…

woud rather see buckyballs or some innovative shape – the globe was already round once, with more to ‘say’; time for something else than another play on ‘sphere’.

The first one was nicer, I agree, but I’d hardly call the second piece second rate.

Always looks second rate to me. Like the artist said ‘fook it, if that’s what that deity up there is going to do with my materpieces I won’t bother putting much effort into the second one’.

To me the second one has no merit, it lacks imagination and to be perfectly honest I find it quite ugly.

I never thought it would occur but I agree with the troll-sniffer. The ‘globe’ was awesome. By comparision diamonds feels phoned in IMHO.

And I for one did know that both pieces were by the same artist. Just because someone ‘can’ produce something marvelous doesn’t mean all their work is such.
