EAT Festival returns bigger and better as a 'true foodie event' on the Sapphire Coast

While the Sapphire Coast is already a food-lovers paradise, the EAT Festival in March will showcase its delicious range of produce and treats to one and all.

“The countryside around the Sapphire Coast is lush, green and natural, so all the produce that comes from our region is beautiful,” EAT Festival committee member Natalie Godward said.

“It’s about as fresh and real as it can get. For that reason it’s super tasty.”

She said the EAT Festival gave the region the opportunity to showcase what was available on the Sapphire Coast.

Ms Godward said some people coming from the ACT, Victoria or further afield in NSW would have no idea the region had this breadth and range of produce, as well as the talented local chefs.

She said while the main event didn’t go ahead in 2021 due to COVID-19, they did run satellite events and the virus situation had given them the opportunity to rethink the way EAT works, so now they had come back “bigger and better”.

“It’s evolved from EAT Merimbula to the EAT Festival, Sapphire Coast-wide,” she said, also saying it was a “true, true foodie event”.

The EAT Festival will run 10-13 March 2022 and includes the much-loved foodie mecca, EAT Merimbula, hosted along the shores of Merimbula Lake.

EAT Merimbula will headline the festival on 13 March, where old favourites will rub shoulders with newbies like Grand Matriarch Vodka, the Longstocking Bar will pump out the frothies and the famous Sapphire Coast Wilderness Oysters will serve their signature shuckings.

Also, on the back of 2021’s EAT on Tour success, special partner events will take place across the region with locals and visitors invited to indulge in a series of unique paddock to plate and tide to table experiences.

Cat Balou’s sunset oyster cruise will return in Eden as will Broadwater Oysters Shucking School near Pambula, while TOAST Pambula and Wheeler’s Long Table will offer up intimate small batch meals.

Tathra eatery Pividori’s will host the Merroir Tasting Room where oyster lovers will be able to experience a tasting plate of oysters from all five of the region’s estuaries with carefully-curated accompanying wines.

Agriculture artisans Millford Acres will host a Cooking with Fire event where guests will enjoy the best of seasonal produce as they dine long table style in the shearing shed at their beautiful Tanja farm.
