The ACT Emergency Services Agency showed off its skills and staff at its popular Open Day at Fairbairn Business Park, Majura on Sunday (28 October).

A family-friendly event filled with skills demonstrations, hands-on activities, food and entertainment, the day was a great opportunity to learn about the range of emergency services across the ACT region, and speak directly with the people responsible for keeping the community safe.

Staff from across the fire and ambulance services showed visitors how they cut open vehicles in car crashes to rescue occupants, attend to the injured, put out fires and work with hazardous materials.

They also talked to people about how to prepare for the bushfire and storm season and keep their homes safe.

Local photographer Jack Mohr was on site to capture all the action.
