After a two-year pause, the Canberra Moon Festival (CMF) is back in 2022. This is an annual event that brings families, friends, and communities together, to celebrate the meaning of Moon Festival-harvest with a series of stunning performances, cultural activities, and gourmet street food.
The Fun Canberra committee has organised the Canberra Moon Festival since 2016. This year, the Fun Canberra committee will hold the celebration of 2022 Canberra Moon Festival at Garema Place and City Walk from 9 September to 11 September.
The Canberra Moon Festival intends to present the concept of “One Community, One World, One Big Family” to our beloved multicultural capital city.
2022 CMF includes over 20 catering and product stalls, carnival facilities and multicultural performances and activities for everyone to enjoy during three days, including:
- Stage performance: LED dragon and lion dance, sand art performance, Chinese Kungfu, folk dance from diverse cultural backgrounds, and live bands.
- Activity including mooncake making, sugar candydrawing, creative pillow dye, lantern making, ring toss, arrow throwing, and jumping castle
- Flavours from popular local food stalls include fluffy gourmet baos, Chinese pancake, Takoyaki balls, skewers, crepes, and ice cream. Sweet or Savory, meal or dessert, there is something for everyone.
- CMF Cooking Show (Sunday, 11 Sep): this is a live cooking show conducted by a famous chef with free tasting experience (limited seats, register for free ticket), and CIT students conduct cooking competition on stage
This year’s Canberra Moon Festival is honoured to receive support from various community groups and local businesses. Minister Cheyne, Minister Davidson, Minister Cain, Chair of Canberra Multicultural Community Forum and Multicultural Ambassador ACT – Chin Wong have confirmed to speak at the festival ceremony. The CMF is to host the moon festival that represents harmony and reunion.
