The Canberra Nara Candle Festival is back this year… but a little bit different.
Celebrating the sister-city relationship between Canberra and Nara, Japan, the Festival is a chance for Canberrans to be involved with some Japanese inspired activities. This years Festival will not run in its usual format due to COVID-19 public health restrictions. Nonetheless it will be an exciting experience for all, being themed around a Foodie weekend titled ‘Itadakimasu’ translating to “Let’s eat!” in Japanese.
Enjoy from a range of delectable Japanese style dishes from over 20 participating restaurants, offering fine dining degustation to sashimi takeaway. Make a booking to visit the Itadakimasu weekend, or visit participating restaurants in store.
This year, the outdoor candle display won’t be happening, but the community can still enjoy the peaceful surrounds of the Canberra Nara Peace Park. There will be an opportunity to strike the Rotary Peace Bell from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October.
Festival goers are encouraged to remember to stay COVID-safe by practicing good hygiene and social distancing, and if they feel unwell, to please stay home.
