After failing to qualify for the Summer Olympics, sprinter Derice Bannock (Leon Robinson) resolves to start Jamaica’s first national bobsled team for the Winter Olympics. Coached by disgraced bobsled champion Irving Blitzer (John Candy), four young men leap out of their comfort zones for a chance at sporting glory.
Loosely inspired by true events and with a score by Hans Zimmer, Cool Runnings is a feel-good family film about striving to achieve your goals, no matter how impossible the odds may seem.
‘A wholesome, engaging, frequently hilarious, ultimately inspirational film’ – The Washington Post
Presented on 35mm film prints from the NFSA collection.
