A darkly comedic reimagining of the classic marionette characters, told through the lens of puppeteers Judy (Mia Wasikowska) and her husband Punch (Damon Herriman). Subverting the uproarious hilarity of the theatre’s slapstick violence, this retelling from writer/director Mirrah Foulkes examines the much bloodier reality of off-stage violence in the anarchic 17th Century town of Seaside.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with director Mirrah Foulkes and actors Mia Wasikowska and Damon Herriman.
‘There’s a savage, sometimes surreal wit to this anarchic tale of violence and revenge; it’s an eye catching first feature from actress Mirrah Foulkes’ – Wendy Ide, Screen Daily
