This conversation invites you to consider contemporary Egyptian cultural expressions, encompassing art, film, feminism and more. We will explore how the creative practices and knowledge held by performers, artists, creatives and scholars can shape and interact with modern society and identity.

Featuring actress and visual artist Helana Sawires, women’s history researcher Dr Lucia Sorbera and artist Dr Raafat Ishak.

This is the second in a series of facilitated conversations with Egyptian–Australians and ancient Egypt subject specialists, inspired by our Discovering Ancient Egypt exhibition. Spotlight Conversations is a new series of monthly events exploring thought-provoking ideas inspired by the Museum’s exhibitions and collections.
