Floodwaters rise in the Naas Valley

Naas Valley flooding

John Lafferty has sent in this picture of rising waters with this note:

Taken today 13/01/2011, looking into the Nass Valley near the intersections of Naas Road, Apollo Road and Bobeyan Road while the Gudgenby River flows heavy…again. On the left you can see the bridge on Bobeyan Road staying just above the river level. McMahons Crossing is again under at least 1m of water.

I had to laugh when the Orroral Rd, Smiths Rd and Mount Franklin Rd closures were broadcast over the News Radio traffic watch yesterday afternoon. I’m sure that made a big difference to the commuting traffic in the city and suburbs.

It does make a difference to the many people who travel from and to these areas every day! 🙂

Well beh1972, ‘damn’ is the right word. I believe this area was targeted for the building of one.

Thanks to Thumper for the closures update. In addition, Smiths Road remains closed due to the loss of the bridge over the Gudgenby River. see:http://www.flickr.com/photos/25223017@N00/5326290697/
A baily bridge is to be placed over the reaims but will not be completed untill near the end of Feburary. See:http://www.smithsroad.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=178:temporary-bridge-update&catid=28:flood-updates&Itemid=38
Untill then the only access for residents is via Angle Crossing (currently about 300mm under water) and McMahons Crossing (currently about 800mm under water).
