With the school holidays well underway, ACT Policing hopes visitors to the miniature village will be able to provide witness statements and mobile phone footage of the accident.

A spokesperson said at about 10 am today (28 September), the train carriage came off the tracks and injured several passengers.

Four people were treated at the scene by ACT Ambulance Service paramedics and then taken to hospital.

I certainly hope this won’t end up with a reactionary bureaucratic crackdown on live steam model locomotives. This is a very rare mishap, in what is generally a very well managed and maintained fraternity of live steam enthusiasts. And, kids love live steam locomotives. So please, bureacrats, no knee-jerk reactions.
