Unknown man assaulting women on Gungahlin cycle paths - can you help police identify him?

ACT Policing has asked for public help after two women were indecently assaulted on cycle paths in Gungahlin in January.

A police spokesperson said they were trying to identify an offender in relation to the crimes committed on the bicycle paths surrounding Yerrabi Ponds.

“About 7 pm on Tuesday, 30 January 2024, a man – or possibly a teenage boy – grabbed a woman and committed an act of indecency on the victim before fleeing the area on a black bicycle,” the police spokesperson said.

“A second incident occurred about 3:45 pm on Wednesday, 31 January 2024, with another woman being grabbed in a similar manner near the Yerrabi Ponds bicycle paths.

“It is believed the incidents are linked and involve the same offender.”

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed these incidents or may have CCTV or mobile phone footage of the incidents on these dates.

Anyone with information that could assist police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or on the Crime Stoppers ACT website, quoting reference number 7661041. Information can be provided anonymously.
