“The Chief” Stanhope has announced $220,000 worth of renos to Canberra’s most beloved haunt of sly teen drinking and unplanned pregnancy, Glebe Park. (Admittedly family BBQ’s and pickup cricket are also frequent uses of the facilities)

Extra seating and greater protection of grass will be provided through new seating walls and extended paving at the barbecue areas, while a new path will link the City Gate to the Gillard Smith Gate, giving better access for pedestrians from Bunda Street to Boolee Street.

“Glebe Park is one of the best-used and most loved public parks in Canberra, and a wonderful oasis of green in the inner city,” Mr Stanhope said.

“These refurbishments will make it more attractive to families and more accessible to pedestrians.”

Mr Stanhope suggests that you can get a look at the Glebe Park Master Plan from http://www.tams.act.gov.au/

Having kicked around the metaphorically un-used and unlit lavatories of that site I think he might be referring to this. But I’m open to suggestions.
