Canberra Good Food Month has announced its talent-filled programme for March 2018. International and home-grown chefs, esteemed restaurants and flavour-packed collaborations will further ignite Canberra’s thriving food scene over 31 days.

One such collaboration will see iconic Australian Chef Christine Manfield, a household name synonymous with global flavours and spice, joining forces with an all-female powerhouse cast to bring you an evening of four courses and matching wines.

Christine will join Director and Executive Chef of Ginger Catering at The National Arboretum, Janet Jeffs, as well as the Canberra Women Chefs. They are coming together to execute a dining experience that will not only redefine extraordinary food but will exemplify professional support in the industry, with all proceeds going to Women in Hospitality.

Canberra Women Chefs include Danielle Brito from Winning, Laura Dale from AKIBA, Marie Koenig and Megan Comfort from Ginger Catering, and Leeanne Grey from Silo Bakery. The matched wines have also been crushed by women; Sarah Collingwood from Four Winds and Celine Rousseau at Eden Road Wines.

Christine Manfield is one of Australia’s most celebrated chefs and an award-winning author. While her books have spiced up the lives of amateur and professional cooks everywhere, giving back is also an integral part of Christine’s work portfolio. She is a mentor at Women in Hospitality, a not-for-profit organisation which champions women in the industry and provides members with a forum for exploring ideas, networking, and provides access to education and mentorship initiatives.

Christine said: “Events like this dinner for Good Food Month shine a light on the importance of supporting women and celebrating the achievements of women in our industry, and finding our voice. We all deserve to flourish and need our voices to be heard so that we are not invisible. It’s essential to establish a social community for women in the food and wine industry to engage, connect, collaborate and shine. Dinner guests can expect a fun night with great flavours, produce, and wines, plus the opportunity to experience the collective talents of a line-up of industry professionals who just happen to be women.”

The menu is being kept under wraps until the night, with Christine saying: “We don’t like to divulge – there has to be the element of surprise, so no forewarning I’m afraid, that would take away all the fun.”

The menu follows the ethos of showcasing local seasonal, sustainable, ethically sourced produce with my signature spicy flavours.”
