Good Korean Restaurants

As this Sunday is Father’s Day, my wife asked me what I would like to do.

Apart from going to the club and watching the footy in the afternoon, I’d like to have Korean for lunch.

Trouble is, I can’t find one in the Restaurant guide, soooo, who can recommend a good one???

Godori. New one just opened in Dickson but untried yet. Looks the goods from the outside.

The “B-One Secret Garden” Restaurant in Garema Place (near Dymocks) is excellent. Enjoy 😉

The one on Northbourne near ClubX is quite good, foodwise. Decor isn’t much special (I think it used to be a Vietnamese?) but the food kept my people happy at least twice.

Lucky that’s only a little part…

Godori is great – my Korean friends say it is like home-style Korean cooking, so no, not fine dining. Fresh salad stuff, generous serves, friendly staff. And you don’t have to cook the food yourself… You can even feel smugly healthy with most of the food, if you like that kind of thing. The howling wind is a bit of a problem on cold days – don’t sit near the door.

And they have eel!

There is one underneath Club X in the city, I haven’t tried it though…

The best used to be Koreana in Dickson… Loved that place…

There’s a little part of me that wants to say “good Korean restaurant” is an oxymoron. I’m suspicious of any cuisine that relies on the diner to assemble ingredients and cook the food themselves.

But I have a recommendation! A bunch from work had a great time at “B-One” (near where Woodstock’s used to be). And like StereoHenry’s, it’s not “fine dining”. But there was plenty of food and the waiter was fantastic.

He explained what each dish was and how to prepare and eat it. He even gave us a couple of dishes gratis “just to see if you like this one”.

Ditto for Godori. Very nice food and the bloke who runs it/cooks is a bit of a champ.

It doesn’t look much, but Cocorea at Garema Place is great. I’m also a big fan of Godori, which is around the corner towards DJs. Neither would be considered “fine dining” establishments, but the food is great and the staff are friendly (nicer atmos at Godori).
