The ACT Labor government needs to commit to catching the notorious Narrabundah tyre slasher as the Canberra community raises its voice about the ongoing vandalism to residents’ property being inflicted, Member for Molonglo Giulia Jones said today.
“Today in the Legislative Assembly I will table a petition signed by more than 270 Canberrans calling on Simon Corbell and the government to commit more resources to catching the Narrabundah tyre slasher who has been causing havoc in the inner south for over a decade,” Mrs Jones said.
“I have spoken to many residents, some who have had their cars and property vandalised more than ten times by this criminal. It simply isn’t good enough that this offender continues to attack the personal property of residents of Narrabundah and Griffith.
“Simon Corbell has had many opportunities to make the capture of this offender a high priority but so far he isn’t achieving it. It’s an indictment on the government that a petition has to be circulated to bring this issue again to Mr Corbell’s attention,” Mrs Jones concluded.
