Jon Stanhope has announced that he’d like more applicants for unpaid positions on the board of the Capital Woodland and Wetlands Conservation Trust and has extended the deadline to 28 January.

(Try not to take it personally if you’ve already applied)

The Trust will contain between five and seven members. Its roles will be to:

— raise and allocate funds to support the management and enhance the development of two of Canberra’s significant sanctuaries – Mulligan’s Flat Woodland Sanctuary and the Jerrabomberra Wetlands Nature Reserve;
— enlist corporate and community support for wetland and woodland conservation;
— provide support for ongoing research, education, recreation and tourism activities related to woodland recovery and wetland conservation;
— support the ongoing management of wildlife sanctuaries so that the reserves can attract a diversity of wetland birds and assist with the recovery of locally extinct woodland fauna; and
— ensure clear governance and probity in the application of government and private funds.

Probably a good rung on the ladder for keen conservationists.
