UPDATED INFORMATION AS A RESULT OF ORRORAL VALLEY FIRE CONDITIONS:
DUE TO UNPREDICTABLE FIRE AND WEATHER CONDITIONS IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS, THE CLEARING SALE WILL NOW BE MOVED BACK EXACTLY ONE WEEK – All details www.ALLBIDS.com.au.
After selling his property in Clear Range, a long-time resident and collector is holding a huge clearing sale of his shipping containers, agricultural and farming equipment, tools, building materials and land surveying instruments.
There’s also cars, a truck and caravan, and even a portable furnished office that was once used in the Antarctic as a mobile laboratory for testing samples.
All 321 items are currently up for auction on ALLBIDS, with a final live auction to take place on the property. The highest bidder on ALLBIDS will hold the starting bid at the live auction, although CEO of ALLBIDS, Rob Evans, believes most lots will go to online bidders.
“Clearing sales are central to the Aussie bush region, and this one’s a cracker. We’re running it as an online auction so everyone can get involved, followed by a final live auction at the site.
“It’s a very diverse collection, and typical of a great clearing sale but with many more building materials and unique items you wouldn’t normally see.
“We expect most lots to go to the online bidder, but those who want to bid live will have the advantage of getting the last bid. It’s a platform and system that gets the best results for buyers and sellers – and it’s convenient if a buyer can’t or doesn’t want to turn up on the day, or wants someone else to pick up their items for them.”
The online part of the auction ends 5:30 pm Friday January 31, while the live auction is on Saturday February 1 in Clear Range. Smaller items will be available for pick up at the ALLBIDS Fyshwick showroom. Larger items can be picked up from the property, which is about 15km south of Tharwa overlooking the Murrumbidgee River.
Some of the items up for grabs include:
- Building materials
- Gardening equipment
- Farming machinery and parts
- Surveyor’s instruments
- Storage and water tanks
- Timber
- Storage shelving and workshop benches
- Saddles and horse blankets
- Doors
- Fencing gates and panels
- Four 20 foot containers
- Two 40 foot containers.
Rob says the containers themselves will be extremely popular, with high demand for quality containers in the ACT.
“We expect the containers will be very popular as they’re extremely useful for storage. These are high quality containers initially bought for a housing project.
“The owner was an avid buyer at auction himself so there are a few antique and very unique items including an ex-Antarctic portable office. So it’s not just a great opportunity for farmers and builders in the region, but any collector or DIYer from Canberra and surrounds.”
