The Canberra Times is reporting on the Tuggeranong Community Council’s enthusiasm for getting the rest of us following their lead which “led Tuggeranong to national Tidy Towns glory in 1995 and 1996”. We were booted out of Tidy Towns competition back in 1997 (winning too mucch again?) but it seems there’s “a new Sustainable Cities category”
While this may be worthwhile for it’s own sake (the rewards of cleaning my bathroom are largely confined to me) the suggestion that winning such an award would be a boost for the tourism industry seem a little over-blown.
Hands up anyone who has ever deliberately travelled to a winning Tidy Town to soak up the tidyness?
