Images of Canberra – Ducks and a head at the National Gallery

The following is part of a picture series I hope to get time to work up in the next few days. But I thought it was fun so you can all have it now.

The heads are by an artist named Dadang Christanto, the NGA also has another work by him in the Asian art galleries, yet im unsure if it is currently on display. Is called Red Rain.

The heads have been there for ages and are quite disturbing in reality, especially when the mist machine is one and floating over this particular pond.

I must admit I find Stackhouse’s ‘On the Beach’ much more poetic and moving.

Was that photo taken at the Sculpture Gardens, or whatever they call it at the NGA these days? (Your post mentions the NGA).

If so, what’s the deal with the head? I didn’t see it last time I was there…

When I take Nattie down to the lake early in the morning on occasion, she generally barks at the ducks and they just quack back. At times it seems like they’re teasing her with their coming close and swimming away antics.

They don’t appear to be interested in the head…although a photo of a duck sitting on the head would be interesting.
