The feral-proof sanctuary of Mulligans Flat (behind Forde) preserves not only an important example of threatened box-gum woodland, but now hosts an established population of Brown treecreepers (reintroduced) along with the many other species that make this one of Canberra’s best birdwatching sites. It is planned to introduce Bettongs in the near future. To be viable, the researchers and rangers working in this ‘outdoor laboratory’ need helpers.
The inaugural meeting of the ‘Friends of Mulligans Flat’ will be held at 11:00am on 23 October at the old sales office of Delfin Lend Lease, Francis Forde Boulevarde, Forde.
Come along and hear the rangers and scientists talk about their work and how you can help, and meet other like-minded people. Morning tea provided, and a ranger-guided wildflower walk to follow!
