Investigations continue after person dies in house fire

Investigations are continuing into a fire that claimed the life of a person in Calwell last night (Tuesday, 7 June).

Police have still not released the gender, age or identity of the person who died, saying only that a report is being prepared for the coroner.

Emergency services were alerted to the blaze at about 10 pm, when ACT Policing and ACT Fire & Rescue received reports of a house fire with a person possibly inside.

Despite efforts of neighbours, police officers and ACT Fire & Rescue firefighters, the person was unable to be saved.

The cause of the fire is currently being investigated.
