The build up to Canberra’s Premier Race Day, the Kamberra Wine Company Black Opal Stakes continues this Sunday with the MS Society Preview Race Day.

The highlight of the meeting is the Lighting Ridge Plate where local star Strike Alert will race not only for first place but a prized exemption to the Black Opal Stakes on Sunday March 13.

But let’s not forget the Fashion! The Preview Race Day will feature the Junior Fashions on Fields which is great fun for the kids and a favourite with the crowd. As an added bonus there is a $200 cash prize pool for each of the four Junior Fashion on Fields categories (1st $125, 2nd $50, 3rd $25). The categories are:

Boys 5-10

Girls 5-10

Boys 11-17

Girls 11-17

The entrants of the 2011 MYER Face of Canberra Racing will be attending in their racing best, hoping to impress the judges as the 10 finalists will be chosen from the record number of entrants on the day.

The 10 finalists will go on to participate in the final heat at the Chief Minister’s Black Opal Cocktail party on Friday March 11 where the winner will be announced.

With nearly all of the function rooms are booked out for this Sunday, large crowd numbers are expected.

With live music playing in the Winning Post Bar it’s a perfect day for everyone to head to the track for what will be a great day of racing, competitions and entertainment at Thoroughbred Park.
