Kambah Home Invasion

By Die Lefty Scum - 16 August 2008 37

I live across the road from a home  on Boddington Crescent Kambah which suffered an invasion at 2am this morning.

The cops said there “was a victim” and that the (newly moved in) occupants of the house are “well known to police”. Furthermore, the perpetrator was obviously “looking for something” according to the blue meanies.

There has been no less than 5 cop cars outside the house since this morning, so one can only assume it is fairly serious.

Anyone privy to the details? I wanna know if I should be looking for a new ‘hood.

What’s Your opinion?

peter@home – it was down near where Boddington joins O’Halloran – you must be on the street with the same name after the well known AFL Club?.

I agree about Charnwood as an area, mostly a good area although I do know a few folk who had been robbed – mainly those that live on the bike path that makes its way around through the suburb. I lived in Flynn for over 20 yrs and my folks still live there now (33 yrs and counting). As a kid I used to go mushrooming on Mt Rogers under what is now ‘upper’ Flynn. You’re experience of Charny shops is obviously different from mine, I’ve seen quite a few fights there between ‘adults’over the years. As I said in an earlier post I think most of the problems come from folk who drink more than they can handle at the tavern (once formally known as the ‘Charnwood Family Tavern’)and move between there and the TAB.

Bernie Flats – won an architectural award then was raized to the ground 20 yrs later. Not a nice place.

Did you go to Charnwood Primary or St Thomas A.?

charnwood primary, charnwood high (gasp!) copland college

It was probably just Centrelink dropping in on their clients to see how things were going. Got to look after your best customers, y’know…

I drove down Boddington at 1pm (I’m also in Kambah – just off Bacchus Ct)and there were still two police outside. This time there were two youths (wearing ‘hoodies’) sitting in the driveway crossed legged while the police watched over them.

Not sure what the deal is though. A friend’s house was invaded down that end of Kambah (just near the Woolshed) last week while they were sleeping.

As for looking for a new home, I wouldn’t bother. I’ve been here for about 7 years and that’s the first crime I know of in the area. I saw more crime when I was living in Holt and Flynn (mainly due to Charny shops).

scoff.

charny shops??

what about fraser tavern, or charny tavern? they were the hotbeds for the underhanded deals, keg thefts, hot property sales, etc, etc. ( I distinctly remember seeing a couple of kids rolling a keg across fraser oval)

charnwood upper was pretty clean, as was sections of lower charnwood. I think the hintons came from kaleen, they were pretty rough guys, but not much of a problem if you remembered to be polite to them. They spent a bit of time in flynn, melba etc.

the shops weren’t a problem, it was the influx into these suburbs by act housing after Melba flats were torn down.

remember melba flats, bernie court etc?? they were sites of extremely bad people….

and others trying to get by, day by day.

Down the woolshed end. The forensics are still there…

actually, considering I came from charnwood, apart from the hoons, this is probably the quietest area I have even lived in. I can hear the noise from the tavern some nights, but that is still pretty muffled and ok for me.

where about on boddington?

I live near theos.

(not on boddington), up the road from theos…

Can’t say anything about this particular incident.

Wouldn’t be the first time I’ve heard of people running around in the early hours of Kambah in this way. I know its almost cliche, but there is a lot of ice in that suburb and surrounding areas.

I would speculate a home invasion at that time, in that suburb, on ‘people known to the police’ would be drug related and likely ice.

“I wanna know if I should be looking for a new ‘hood.”

Well I don’t know if it’s quite worth doing that but I wouldn’t move there to begin with

Lived up the hill towards Learmonth for about eight years up until about nine years ago and it was an OK area, but some of the places down near the shops half-way along Boddington looked a bit dodgy.

Kambah’s a funny suburb like that: rampant opulence meets seven and a half cars on the front lawn and an old boat full of empty cans.

Haha, you can take the boy out of Kambah, but you can’t take Kambah out of the boy.
