Beyondblue has announced they’ve taken on former Chief Minister of the ACT Kate Carnell as their Chief Executive Officer:
Chairman Jeff Kennett said rarely can a community, not-for-profit organisation attract to its leadership position a person of such outstanding qualifications as Ms Carnell.
Ms Carnell is a highly-respected person, having been Chief Minister of the Australian Capital Territory for six years, and the Minister for Health in the ACT for three years.
Ms Carnell has a long-term interest in the policy and delivery issues surrounding mental health, and brings all that experience and enthusiasm to beyondblue.
More recently, Ms Carnell has served as Chief Executive Officer of the Australian General Practice Network, and up until this appointment, has been CEO of the Australian Food and Grocery Council.
Ms Carnell has been a Director of beyondblue since 2008 and Deputy Chair since 2010. She was also involved in the establishment of Headspace.
Mr Kennett said: “Ms Carnell will continue as a Director of beyondblue because of her position as CEO. She knows the organisation, its staff and partners extremely well, and is clearly an experienced CEO who will work with the Board and staff in continuing beyondblue’s exceptional work throughout the community.
