Kennedy Room Canberra's answer to the Iguana Bar?

The Australian is having a poke at Labor MP for Corangamite Darren Cheeseman getting into trouble in Kingston’s increasingly famous Kennedy Room, the home of partying politicians and the people who want to be in the same room as them.

Mr Cheeseman issued a statement today saying he’d been at the bar for a short time when he saw some old friends.

“Unbeknown to me, there had been an issue with one of the group who had been smoking in an area outside but where smoking was not allowed which had led to a conversation with a venue employee,” he said.

“Also unbeknown to me, that prompted the venue employee to request the assistance of the police.

“At no stage did I have any conversation with the police nor did I identify myself as a member of parliament to anyone. I simply followed their request to leave the venue.”

Political hangers on being rude and having a sense of entitlement. Say it isn’t so!

Not quite Belinda Neal in the Iguana Bar, but heading that way.

(We’re sure it’s mere oversight that Darren’s web page has no statement about this incident.)
