Knowing as I do how very many of you are fans of the work of Coleridge, and in particular Kubla Khan I thought it was worth drawing your attentions to an exhibition just opened in Belconnen. Here’s the blurb:
- The Belconnen Artists Network presents a new exhibition of works created earlier this year as part of the Network’s annual ‘summer challenge’. The starting point was Samuel Coleridge’s evocative poem. Curator Robyn Diener is sure many people can quote the opening lines of Kubla Khan …
“In Xanadu did Kubla Khan
A stately pleasure-dome decree…”
… if not more!
The Network’s summer challenge started last year and has become part of the annual program of events for the artists. The resulting works should not just seen as an exhibition, but as the outcome of a creative project.
All enquiries regarding this exhibition and membership of the Belconnen Artists Network should be directed to Chris Bridgland on 0411 367 491 or email bridglan@pcug.org.au.
Belconnen Gallery is in Belconnen Community Centre, Swanson Court Belconnen. The exhibition runs from Tuesday 9 June to Friday 19 June 2009. The Belconnen Gallery is open from 9.00 am to 4.30 pm Monday to Friday.
