The Carols at Lanyon have been mentioned on RIOT-ACT in the past.
This year’s carols has been cancelled, although the Gov Co website for Lanyon does not mention this.
Reason is given in following Canberra Times story
It is sad when any of the many Carols events gets canceled around Canberra and my wife and I were planning on taking the kids to Lanyon this year. However, in this case it seems to be a public safety issue. With the cancellation of this event and the demise of Carols at the AWM, Carols by Candlelight at Stage 88 (Wednesday 15th at 7pm) must be shaping up to be the biggest held there for a while.
I hope the ACT Gov’t has done a risk assessment on the trees around Stage 88 though. There seems to be quite a few trees down around the ACT and I can just imagine the furore that would arise should a tree came down just prior to, or during, Wednesday nights event.
Should the ACT accept overseas travellers into hotel quarantine?
