Police suspect a wooden log was deliberately placed onto a road before a teenage motorbike rider crashed into it, causing him to be thrown from his bike.

They are now calling for information about suspicious activity in the area at the time.

The 17-year-old motorbike rider was driving on Mirrabei Drive in Ngunnawal on Wednesday night (8 January), an ACT Policing spokesperson said.

The rider then crashed into a large wooden log that was lying across the northbound lane of the road and was thrown from his motorbike.

Police and emergency services responded to the incident at about 10:30 pm and the rider was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Probably just fell off the back of someone’s ute like most other “debris” on the roads – there seems to be no requirement in Canberra to tie down loads on utes.
