Time to say goodbye to those precious locks at the Belconnen Fresh Food Markets charity event—Lose Your Hair at the Markets— on Friday 21 July 2006 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm rasing money for The Leukaemia Foundation.

Featuring guest MC, Sarah Robinson from Canberra’s FM 104.7, local hairdressers from Roger David Barber Shop and McKellar Hairdressers will shave colour and/or wax, brave participants’ hair creating some rather crazy creations to raise money for The Leukaemia Foundation between 12.00pm and 2.00pm.

At 1:00pm Centre Manager, Maria Efkarpidis, will have her head of hair shaved by Magnet Mart man, Brendan Slone.

The children will be entertained by face painting and balloon animals throughout the day.

Market shop owners have Lose Your Hair at the Markets crazy specials running from 10am until 4pm on the day.

Shoppers at the markets are warned to proceed with caution – a week prior to the event 1920s gangsters will be prowling the premises, collecting money for the cause. Gangsters have put a price on market shop owners’ heads, the public must pay up, or they loose the hair!

There will be three major raffles on the day with fantastic prizes and vouchers for the markets, drawn at 2:00pm.

The Leukaemia Foundation are the only non-for-profit organisation dedicated to the care and cure of patients and families living with leukaemia, lymphomas, myeloma and related blood disorders

Lose Your Hair at the Markets is the first charity event to be hosted annually by the Belconnen Fresh Food Markets raising much-needed funds for various local charities throughout Canberra.

Um, you probably aren’t going to be able to see people get brazillians at many venues. Certainly not at the Belconnen markets – surely there’d be some sanitary problem?

Actually, with that much loose hair flying around, isn’t theer a sanitary problem anyway?

Well then, how about brazilians for cancer?

yawn

the whole wacky head shave concept is very passe.
