Man and horse killed in car collision near Moruya

A man has died after the car he was travelling in collided with a horse in the Eurobodalla on Friday night.

Emergency services were called to the distressing scene on the Princes Highway, near Moruya at about 7:45 pm (Friday 6 September).

“It’s believed a Toyota Rav 4 was travelling north when a horse ran onto the road and was hit by the car,” police report.

“The Toyota’s passenger, a 72-year-old man, was unable to be revived and died at the scene.

“The driver, a 67-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries and did not require hospitalisation.

“The horse was also killed.”

Officers from the South Coast Police District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
