A 36-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Thursday, 2 January) following separate driving incidents.

The man will face charges of dangerous driving, drug driving, driving while suspended, driving a vehicle without consent and failing to stop for police.

He was apprehended on 1 January when police observed him using what will be alleged to be a stolen motor vehicle in Giralang.

An officer deployed ‘stop sticks’, but the man drove away despite the vehicle having two flat tyres. Police apprehended him a short time later after he attempted to abandon the vehicle.

Separately, police will allege the woman stole a vehicle on Monday, 30 December 2019, and failed to stop when ordered to do so when seen by police in that vehicle yesterday (1 January).

Officers followed the vehicle from Kambah to Wanniassa, where the woman attempted to flee on foot. She was arrested a short time later.

The woman will face charges including dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, driving while suspended, and driving a vehicle without consent.
