A 29-year-old man on parole stole a vehicle which had been packed by its owner in preparation for a bushfire evacuation, the ACT Magistrates Court will be told today. (Tuesday, 7 January).
ACT Policing said the man was arrested on Monday in relation to several recent incidents, including a robbery in Hawker on Christmas Eve.
Police said that in a coordinated operation, officers apprehended the man in Watson when he was driving the vehicle that had been stolen on Sunday (5 January), but not before he rammed two police cars.
The man will face charges of driving a stolen motor vehicle, failing to stop for police, dangerous driving, driving having never held a licence, and breach of parole.
He will also face a charge of aggravated robbery in company in relation to an incident at Hawker on Tuesday, 24 December, 2019.
Police will oppose bail.
