An 18-year-old North Canberra man will face the ACT Children’s Court today (Tuesday, 10 April 2018) in relation to a violent home invasion in Molesworth Street, Watson last year in which a dog’s ear was severed with a machete and a gun was fired.

ACT Policing said that about 10.47 pm on Saturday, 17 March 2017, two men wearing balaclavas forced their way into the residence and threatened the occupants.

In a fight that ensued, a man suffered a cut to the head, the dog was attacked with a machete and one of the home invaders discharged a firearm in to the premises.

On 25 October last year, the same dog attacked and killed its owner, Tania Klemke.

ACT Policing’s Criminal Investigations arrested the North Canberra Man and charged him with aggravated burglary after receiving information from the public and the issue of face-fit images on 4 April.

Police said investigations were ongoing, and anyone who may have any information that could assist them is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
